Ansor committed to maintaining interfaith harmony

The Ansor Youth Movement of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is committed to helping create and maintain social and religious harmony in the region.<>

"Ansor of NTT must demonstrate its existence along with interfaith community in ensuring security and stability in the province," said Secretary of the NU youth wing Hasim Bapang in a meeting here on Friday (1/11).

The meeting participated by members of Multipurpose Ansor Military Personnel (Banser) was held on 1-3 November 2013, at an Islamic Senior High School, Kupang.

Hasim said that Banser was a place prepared for Ansor core cadres in addition to being key actors in running all Ansor programs.

According to Hasim, based on the principle of nationality, Ansor will actively participate in securing all activities or celebrations held by religious adherents, including non - Muslims. 

He was of the opinion that all this should be done by cooperating withwith the police, district military commander (Dandim), and the the Military Resort Command (Korem).

Meanwhile, Asan Sagala Siregar, one of the administrators of the Central Board of Ansor, said that the organization had three main programs, namely carrying out regeneration process, economic empowerment through bussiness and seeding the love of Ahlussunah wal Jamaah (Aswaja).

As part of maintaining harmonious and pluralist values in the country, the youth wing of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), has alway deployed its members to help secure any religious celebrations across the archipelago.
