Chairman of Ansor Youth Movement H Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, popularly known as Gus Yaqut responded to the HTI flag burning incident on the 2018 Santri Day commemoration in Garut.

He said that both Ansor and Banser had nothing to do with certain figures and interest, adding that Ansor would not remain silent on those and whatever that are contrary to the principles of the Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia.

Ansor and Banser, Gus Yaqut said, were youth organizations that adhere to the teaching of so-called Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah and the basic principles of statehood. On this stand, GP Ansor and Banser members would not be allergic to the so-called tauhid.

While, the flags burned by Banser members during the Garut's gathering were the ones of Indonesian Hiszbut Tahrir, an organization banned by the government.

the problem is that the flag bearing the tauhid sentence already contains the anti-NKRI political agenda having been propagated by the HTI. While HTI and all its attributes have become prohibited organizations for being contrary to the principles of Pancasila and NKRI based on court decisions.

"Actually we have nothing to do with the tauhid sentence, a sentence that we hold high above anything. But this is another problem," Gus Yaqut told NU Online at the Ansor headquarters in Jakarta, Tuesday.

He said that the tauhid sentence in the flag of HTI had belonged to certain groups and was absolutely political. The tauhid sentence in the HTI flag no longer contains the Islamic aqeedah, but politics (siyasah). The tauhid sentence in the HTI flag is no longer used by Muslims in general, such as the tauhid sentence commonly used in the so-called tahlilan gathering as part of Nahdliyin tradition.

According to him, if the HTI flag does not have a political meaning for a particular group, do those who have been raising the flag are willing to prove their nationality as Muslim citizens of Indonesia. (Alhafiz K/Masdar)
