The General Chairman of the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Yahya Cholil Staquf received visit two ambassadors, the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kanasugi Kenji and the United States Ambassador to Indonesia Sung Y Kim at the PBNU headquarters, Kramat Raya Street 164, Jakarta on Tuesday (1/3/2022).

On that occasion, Gus Yahya, his nickname,  stated that education is one of the challenges of his leadership in NU this time. This unit contains some basic problems related to learning.

Therefore, Gus Yahya said that PBNU needs to cooperate with international universities to improve the quality of education and improve the learning system and curriculum.

"We want to work together with international universities to develop curriculum," said the caretaker of the Raudhatut Thalibin Islamic Boarding School, Leteh, Rembang, Central Java to Ambassador Sung Y Kim.

He also conveyed the same thing to Ambassador Kenji. Gus Yahya said that PBNU needed to seek cooperation opportunities in several programs related to higher education.

"We can look for opportunities to work with campuses for several programs," Gus Yahya said.

As explained by Gus Yahya, the community is currently facing reform of the education system, such as virtual learning. This certainly has an impact on the education ecosystem itself so according to him, it is necessary to enrich knowledge sources that are easily accessible for students.

"We need the best strategy to overcome the current learning problems," he said.

PBNU in its leadership era also tried to contribute solutions for world civilization by actively following and being involved in international issues.

Responding to the issue of ongoing conflict this present time, Gus Yahya emphasized that his party wants no use of violent means.

Ambassador Kim also appreciated the steps taken by PBNU that had promoted moderates in the international community. He also saw the track record of Gus Yahya who appeared in his country in conveying tolerance. Gus Yahya admits that he has been doing this since 2013.
