Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) will enter the age of the second 100 years in 1444 according to the Islamic "Hijri" calendar or 2026 AD. Chairman of the Tahkim Council of the NU 34th Congress, KH Ma'ruf Amin, said that in the momentous congress, NU needs to be grateful and reflect on the journey of 100 years ago, especially related to its achievements and obstacles.

All this is part of an effort to develop NU programs in the future. NU's line of struggles are service and progress. While its main line is so-called khittah ishlahiyah, which is to make a positive transformation from now on.

Therefore, KH Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that NU should develop three priorities. First, da'wah (preaching) is the main pillar of NU. The preaching developed is the moderate Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah one through various favorable ways that adapt to the times.

Currently and in the future, NU must continue to actively use information technology in the development of its da'wah. The target of da'wah must also reach millennial youth who need moral guidance in terms of their Islam and nationality.

Second, the priority that must be carried out by NU is in the field of human resources (HR), especially through education.

He greatly appreciated the growth and development of Nahdlatul Ulama Universities (UNU) throughout Indonesia. Currently there are more than 30 UNUs, as well as other universities in Islamic boarding schools or NU foundations.

The existence of NU, he continued, became a very strong base for the development of NU's human resources in the future.

He also appreciated the NU's educational progress that is not only in the religious fields and faculties, but also in the general ones, such as technology, health, economics and social. The educational development, according to him, must be improved, in both quantity and quality.

“This is very encouraging because NU already has a strong base to move forward in the next 100 years. This needs to be improved with the best system," he said.

Third, economic development. In this case, Nahdliyin (NU members) could take advantages of opportunities that have been provided by the government, such as improving business quality through SMEs, IKM, and accessing capital that has also been provided by the state, or Islamic finance institutions.

He hoped that the NU 34th Congress which will be held in Lampung on 23-25 December 2021 could produce work programs by taking into account the priority scale by focusing on the priorities and supporting programs.
