Secretary General of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) H Ahmad Helmy Faishal Zaini officially launched the Elementary School (SD) Driving Organization Program for the collaboration carried out by the Ma'arif NU Educational Institution (LP) with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).

"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, the SD-Level Driving Organization Program in collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Culture and LP Ma'arif, I officially declare it opened, hopefully it will be a blessing," said Helmy, on the 8th floor of the PBNU Building Jalan Kramat Raya 164, Central Jakarta, Friday ( 8/10/2021).

Through this collaboration, Helmy hoped that LP Ma'arif NU could provide a new transformation in the world of education. In addition, PBNU is in need of producing big leaps, innovations, and new creations.

"For example, we must use measurable indicators, that the portrait of this cooperation is in areas that still have a low human development index (HDI)," he said.

After various consolidation and mobilization efforts were made, it could be seen that there was a significant progress, so that LP Ma'arif NU was able to build a major transformation, especially regarding the enlightenment of knowledge to students.

Helmy then said that LP Ma'arif NU was an integral part of NU's social responsibility in making creative efforts to solve education problems in Indonesia. This is part of NU's duty as a public servant, he said.

"So there is no doubt about the role of LP Ma'arif NU in the context of being a driving force in the community, especially to grow teachers and give birth to schools in the community and LP Ma'arif NU has a leading role in building community literacy," Helmy explained.

Therefore, he continued, it was understandable when the government through the Ministry of Education and Culture invited LP Ma'arif NU to participate in being the most important part of this SD Level Driving Organization Program.

"It would be a mistake if the Ministry of Education and Culture implemented the Driving Organization Program not involving Ma'arif NU at all," Helmy added, greeted by thunderous applause from the audience.

To note, the SD Level Driving Organization Program is spread across seven provinces and 35 regencies/cities throughout Indonesia. This program will also target 178 schools and principals, 1068 teachers, and 140 regional facilitators.

From this program, LP Ma'arif NU together with Kemendikbudristek launched literacy and numeric modules. Among them are lower class numeracy and literacy modules, as well as upper class literacy and numeracy modules.
