On 25-26 September 2021, the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) will hold the Alim Ulama National Conference (Munas) and the NU Grand Conference (Konbes) at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Jakarta. Both the Munas and the Konbes which will be held offline with limited participants will discuss the schedule for the NU's 34th Congress which should have been held on 22-27 October 2020 in Lampung Province.

Regarding the NU Congress, the Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Board (PWNU) of Lampung Province still adheres to the decision of the NU Grand Conference in 2020 which decided to change the timing of the 34th NU Congress, namely in October 2021. Meanwhile, regarding the location, there was no change.

“Lampung has always been ready to host the NU 34th Congress. Whether it is held online, offline, or hybrid," chairman of PWNU Lampung, Prof. Mohammad Mukri told NU Online, Tuesday (14/9).

Prof Mukri assessed that if the congress was held this year, restrictions would still be enforced related to the Covid-19 pandemic which so far have not disappeared. "Only offline before the pandemic, Lampung was ready, especially when the congress is held online or hybrid, of course there will be many restrictions related to health protocols," he added.

Prof. Mukri added that during the postponement of this congress, PWNU Lampung continued to communicate and coordinate with all related elements to ensure that the readiness to host the congress having been prepared so far did not slacken.

PWNU Lampung has also continued to coordinate and communicate with all levels of management, such as Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Board (PCNU) throughout Lampung Province. With this solid consolidation, he hoped the Congress in Lampung could run smoothly and successfully.

This hope was also expressed by the Head of the Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Management of Pringsewu Regency H Taufik Qurrohim that the implementation of the congress would not encounter obstacles in the current pandemic era. In addition to outward efforts in the form of preparation of facilities and infrastructure, inner endeavors must also be strengthened.

"For example, ahead of the congress, various activities are carried out by knocking on heaven's door with istighotsah (religious gatherings) and multiplying prayers and practices that have been mandated by NU founders (muasis) and Muslim scholars to Nahdliyin," he said.

The PWNU East Java will fight for this official decision to be a decision at the 2021 National Conference of Alim Ulama and the NU Konbes.

Chairman of the advisory board (Rais) of PWNU East Java, KH Anwar Iskandar will officially voice the implementation of the NU Congress no later than December 2021 ahead.
