Again, Ahlul Halli wal 'Aqdi told to name Rais Aam

Calls for mandating what so-called as Ahlul Halli wal 'Aqdi as a key actor in determining general chairman (of the executive board) of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) are considerably quite reasonable and elegant.
Member of the Supreme Council of PBNU KH Musthofa Bisri, well-known as Gus Mus, made the remarks at a press conference here on Thursday, adding that the ahlul halli wal 'aqdi was a long-standing tradition in the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization. />
"Ahlul halli wal 'aqdi could purposefully be used to choose Rais Aam (general chairman of the legislative board). This has been a long-standing tradition in the NU," Gus Mus said.
The leader of the Rembang's Raudlatut Thalibin Islamic boarding school (pesantren) stressed the importance of taking into account of the NU jargon, almuhafadzah alal qadimissoleh wal akhdzu bil jadidil ashlah.
Gus Mus expressed his deep concern about parties willing to change the NU tradition and culture in determing rais aam post, saying that since the beginning the organization highest position had always been the area of NU senior clerics having no interaction with any political party.
The same opinion was also made by the Jombang's NU Branch Board (PCNU) proposing the general chairman position of PBNU to be determined by the ahlul halli wal 'aqdi (such an authoritative lawmaking body).
"We OK the NU leader is Syuriyah (advisory board) while Tanfidziyah (executive board) serves as the (daily) executor," said chairman of the PCNU KH Isrofil Amar as discussing basic "AD/ART" regulations for the organization ahead of the Makassar congress over the weekend.
The mechanism of electing general chairman by the Ahlul Halli wal 'Aqdi, he said, was aimed at realizing the obedience of general chairman to Rais Aam (general chairman of the advisory board).
"So we propose general chairman (of the executive board) to be named by Ahlul Halli wal 'Aqdi," chairman of the advisory board of the PCNU KH ABdul Nashir Fattah said.
The Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Board (PWNU) of East Java also proposed general chairman (tanfidziyah) of PBNU to be elected by Rais Aam (general chairman of the advisory board) instead of being elected by the NU congress participants.
"There are three options in electing the PBNU general chairman. But we tend to choose the option stipulating the PBNU general chairman to directly be elected by Rais Aam," deputy chairman of the PWNU Sholeh Hayat told reporters over the weekend.
This mechanism, Sholeh said, was intended to realize the general chairman obedience to Rais Aam, adding that the PWNU did not want to see a possible disharmonious relationship between Rais Aam and general chairman in the Nahdliyin-based organization.
For that reason, he said, the PWNU would call on all participants to reconsider the importance of revising basic "AD/ART" regulations for the organization in the NU congress which will be held in the next few days. (yus/min)
