Agung Laksono: House to complete anti-pornography bill as soon as possible

The House of Representatives (DPR) is committed to completing the anti-pornography bill as soon as possible, House Speaker Agung Laksono said here on Friday (6/10).
"I have discussed the matter with the leaders of the House’s Special Committee and the House factions and we agreed it will be completed soon," Agung said on the sidelines of his Ramadhan safari.
<> As reported by the national news agency Antara, the House leader said it was feared further delays in the process to pass the bill would cause the matter to become a subject of religous controversy.He said the leaders of the House Special Committee and the House factions had agreed to complete the bill with changes made to its title and content.
"The most important thing is that the bill should be able to strengthen the Unitary State of the Indonesian Republic (NKRI) instead of triggering disintegration in the country," he said.
Agung said the anti-pornography bill had been discussed in the DPR for two years but to date the House had yet to complete it because of differences of view at faction level.
The House speaker arrived here from Banten on Friday on his way to Sukabumi and Bandung for the second day of his 10-day Ramadhan Safari across Java island.
He started his working visit and Ramadhan Safari on Thursday in Banten province after attending ceremonies to mark the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI)’s 61st anniversary at the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta.
On his first day in Banten on Thursday, Agung held a meeting at the KH Endin Pasir Kelapa Islamic boarding school in Pandeglang district before leaving for Lebak district to meet a number of local Muslim figures.
During his 10-day working visit and Ramadhan safari in the provinces of Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java, the House speaker would visit around 30 districts for meetings and dialogs with regional administration officials, religious figures, community figures and the heads of Islamic boarding schools.
