Chinese Muslims to visit to PBNU

more than 20 people of the Chinese Islamic Association (CIA) lead by its vice chairman Ibrahim Hong Chongyou came Tuesday (29/8) to the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU).

They were welcomed by top officials of the country’s largest Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama such as HM Rozy Munir, Endang Turmudzi, Abdul Aziz Ahmad, and Iqbal Sullam.

<>Both sides meeting at the PBNU Building’s 5th floor gave one another information about the development of Islam in Indonesia and China. They also discussed more about the management of pilgrimage affairs.

The CIA constitutes an Islam-based religious organization from 5 to 6 provinces and about 10 tribes of the country. At present, there are about 20 million Chinese Muslims that have most of them lived in Northeastern areas.  

Hong Changyou said that two years ago, there were 1.100 people of China going to mecca and last year there were 17 million people. He then suggested that next year there will be strongly increase of the Chinese Muslims as estimated amounted to 18 million willing to make the pilgrimage to the Holy City, Mecca.

their visiting to the country of ours was to know more about the pilgrimage management organized by the government through its department of religious affair. In turn, they can handle their own internal matters dealing with the pilgrimage. (mkf)
