Jakarta, NU Online
General chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi called on all parties not to see any terrorism act  from its bombing, saying that it should be traced from its root.

Hasyim made the statement as speaking at a seminar taking up  issues on NU views dealing with terrrorism, held at the PBNU  headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday.<>

Hasyim said that such terrorism acts would be capable of disturbing  and threatening the unitary state of the republic of Indonesia (NKRI),  adding that the government and all social elements should taking into  account of any emerging terrorism act.

"They are international Islamic political movements paying no  attention to the nationality of citizens," Hasyim said.

Hasyim who is also secretary-general of the International  Conference of Islamic Scholars said that it should be differentiated  between war and terror.

For that reason, he said, any effort taken by Lebanese people in  fighting against Israel could not be considered a terror, saying that  the scene was the same of Indonesians who took a stand against  colonizers in the time.

"Thus those who are fighting against such injustice may cot be  labeled as terror(ists)," Hasyim said.

NU has so far reiterated that the national "NKRI" ideology was final  in nature and Islamic laws should not ideally be formalized as such  regulations or decree. Instead, Hasyim said, the Islamic laws were  values that should be maintained and preserved in the life of the  state.

Hasyim also expressed his deeply concern over the the  uncontrolled process of democracy in the country, saying that the  democracy had changed its nature as democrazy. (mkf)
