Kang Said: Use moral principles

Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama  (PBNU) KH Said Aqil Siradj, or well-known as Kang Said,  called on all parties and general chairman candidates of  the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization to compete  fairly and wisely.

Kang Said made the remarks for commenting on   individuals gathering in front of the PBNU headquarters in  discrediting certain candidate recently.r />
He expressed his deep concern about the demonstration  and said that moral principles were such a must for those  willing to do anything, including staging a rally.

Acording to Kang Said, "if there s a possible dissenting  opinion", there should be a mutual understanding and  efforts to appreciate one another.

"I expect all parties to appreciate a possible dissenting  opinion. Never forget to use noble characters and not to  insult (each other)," Kang Said told NU Online here over  the weekend.

Kang Said said that good attitudes and holding a  deliberation to deal with differences were the character  and tradition of NU in nature. That's why, if there is a  protest, it should be conducted wisely.

Kang Said reiterated that in NU there had been a  long-standing tradition in handling any emerging dispute  among NU individuals (Nahdliyin). (dar)
