The chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Muhaimin Iskandar, said the party would not get involved in the political game or conduct maneuvers in connection with the Bank Century case.

"Whoever is fighting today, PKB is not involved in it. PKB wants to remain neutral," he said on the sidelines of a PKB meeting here on Saturday.<>

He said PKB would be consistent as a member of the party coalition supporting the government and would not want to be trapped into political games of any party.

"It is time now for us to work, not to engage in political maneuvers," he said as quoted by Antara.

Regarding PKB`s final statement on the case, he said it would depend upon the discovery of its members sitting in the House Century Bank Inquiry Committee.

He said he himself would only hear the full report about it from them next Monday.
"What is certain is the view of the committee members from the PKB faction will remain in line with the directives of the PKB executive board. The corridor is one, namely if proven later that violations have really happened, they must be settled according to the law," he said.

Right now, he said, PKB was concentrating on people`s affairs. PKB will continue conducting internal consolidation to realize various party`s programs that have been declared.

Regarding reconciliation in the party, he said that communications have been built with several senior clerics that founded the Clerics`s National Awakening Party (PKNU).

He hoped various political elements in the Nahdlatul Ulama (Islamic organization) would return to the PKB`s fold to win the next general elections.

"I have met with Kiai (cleric) Faqih of Langitan and also other declarers of PKNU such as Kiai Nuril Huda and Kiai Idris. We continue developing the strength that we have comprehensively," he said.

Asked about the book written by Yenny Wahid, he said his side is open to all and ready to accept other sides to be part of the party`s board members."PKB is ready to enlarge its executive board if any wishes to join," he said. (dar)
