Sultan HB X to receive Iran's MP delegation

Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengku Buwono X received a visit of an Iranian Parliamentarian Delegation led by Anushiravan Mohseni here on Wednesday (8/11).

Mohseni said that his visit to Indonesia was aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in education.

<>He said that Iran was ready to establish cooperation in a student and lecturer exchange program with the Yogyakarta-based Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

Sultan Hamengku Buwono welcomed the proposal for education cooperation and thanked the Iranian government for its interest-free financial assistance amounting to US$ 50 million for earthquake victims in Yogyakarta.

As reported by the national news agency Antara, earlier on Monday (Nov 6), Anoushiravan Mohseni and his delegation met Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla in Jakarta.

Following the meeting, Mohseni said that Indonesia would soon build a fertilizer plant in Iran in return for the construction of an Iranian oil refinery in Indonesia.

The fertilizer plant would be located in southern Iran. He said that an Iranian trade delegation would soon visit Indonesia to discuss the matter further.

The two countries signed six agreements, including on  construction of an Indonesian fertilizer plant in Iran and an Iranian refinery in Indonesia, following Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Indonesia some time ago. (dar)
