Former Indonesian Army Chief of Staff in the era of Abdurrahman “Gus Dur” Wahid’s administration, Gen. Tyasno Sudarto came on Wednesday to the NU office in Jakarta to deliver his views dealing with the need to back to the purely 1945 Constitution. He argued that the recent amended constitution was not in line with the Pancasila (five principles) and Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

“We come to the General Central of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) for our same intention to defend the NKRI. Actually, we have been undergoing such movements in gross root level together with NU followers (nahdliyin),” said the General.

<>He said that brilliant measures taken by the country’s largest Muslim organization to uphold the NKRI sovereignty has for long time stimulated himself to come to the NU office.

To realize his purposeful ambition, he has founded an organization that so-called as Spiritual Revolution Movement together with circles having the same views. He then explained that there were three respects that he has been now focusing on, first was on how to return and realize the Indonesia’s identities in nature, namely Pancasila, 1945 Constitution and Unity in Diversity.

“This movement was named as a spiritual revolution because the (social) changes can not stand alone without following soul having such honesty,” he said. (mkf)
