VP believes puppet show better than television program

Vise President Jusuf Kalla who is concurrently leader of Golkar Party believed that Wayang (puppet) show is better because the puppet has philosophical values compared to that of television program like the smackdown.
"Wayang performance is much better compared with the television program such as the smackdown and the like," Kalla said here Saturday evening prior to a puppet show relating to the 42nd commemoration of Golkar Party anniversary here.
<>Kalla said, Wayang performance actually has a wide range of audiences in the country. However, because the wayang narration is in Javanese language, so this language factor has made the non-Javanese people difficult to understand.The wayang show in the evening was conducted in Indonesian language.
The party anniversary was also attended by the provincial noted "dalang" (puppeteer) namely Ki Enthus Susmono, Ki Djoko Hadiwijoyo and Warsono Slank. On the occasion, Kalla delivered three leather puppets of "Semar" figure to the three Dalangs.
Deputy chairman of Golkar Party Agung Laksono, who is concurrently speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Muladi, former minister state secretary were also present on the occasion.
According to him, the puppet show conducted by the provincial Golkar party chapter would make people to be more closer with the party.
Earlier Jusuf Kalla reminded the party cadres that they have responsibility to protect, educate and entertain people when they need entertainment.
Party leaders should also do their best to helping people in a bid to improve the people’s quality of life, he cited as quoted by Antara news agency.
In addition, Bambang Sadono, chairman of Central Java chapter of Golkar Party said that the Golkar Party had performed the puppet shows in 35 districts. (dar)
