China Backs Venez in UN Sec Council

China will support Venezuela"s entrance to the United Nations Security Council, said President Hugo Chavez on Thursday following an interview with Chinese leader Hu Jintao.

The meeting, attended by the closest collaborators of both presidents, was held after offering an official welcome to the Venezuelan head of State at the People"s Palace.

<>Chavez noted that the Chinese decision to support the Venezuelan candidacy as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council was announced by Hu Jintao at that meeting.

The South American president said he was pleased with the agreements and understanding achieved with the Asian country’s authorities.

Chavez stressed that the positive results of that meeting are based on three years of political strengthening in relations, which are now getting stronger in the geopolitical, economic, technological, investment and cooperation fields.

The Venezuelan leader made brief statements to press at the end of the eight-document signing ceremony, which included understanding memorandums and agreements in energy, finance, oil exploitation and social houses building.

The deals also included visits of tourist groups to Venezuela, as well as the creation of a bilateral Business Committee, the 5th Joint Commission Agreement, and collaboration in the diplomat academy and publications.

Regarding the economic field, Chavez said that a railroad will be built in Venezuela, which represents billions of dollars in business and exchange.

The Venezuelan president reiterated that his delegation was very pleased with the visit and predicted that his country will supply one million crude oil barrels to China daily for the next ten years. (pl/dar)
