Former General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid said here Wednesday that the government had no such good willingness to immediately overcome the Lapindo mudflow case.
Due to the uncertainty of the mudflow settlement, Gus Dur further accused the President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had so far been affraid of any threatening reaction posed by many circles.<>
Concerning the postponement of Tuesday's Lapindo Interpellation, Gus Dur urged the National Awakening Faction (FKB) of the House of Representatives to constantly take up the interpellation till coming three months.
"We do expect to uphold the interests of people rather than any other's," Gus Dur told reporters at a press conference at the NU headquarters in Jakarta.
At the same time, the Caretaker of the Ciganjur Islamic "Pesantren" Boarding School called on NGOs to be involved in any decision making process.
PT Lapindo Brantas has been blamed for the unrelenting flow of hot mud, which has gushed out of the ground near the company's oil and gas drilling site in Sidoarjo since May last year.(mkf)
