Iran’s ambassador to Indonesia Behrooz Kamalvamdi said here Tuesday that the support from Indonesia’s Muslim organization like Nahdlatul Ulama, Muhammadiyah and others was more appreciated by Iran.
Behrooz felt pleased—though the-15 member Security Council unanimously passed a resolution last Saturday imposing new sanctions on Iran because of its refusal to suspend its uranium-enrichment program—for since the last two days, many Indonesia’s Muslim organizations and members of House of Representatives have supported Iran rights.<>
As for Behrooz, there would be such lesson taken from the latest sanctions, formulated last week by the five permanent members of the council -- the United States, China, Russia, Britain and France -- plus Germany, would freeze the assets of 28 additional individuals and organizations involved in Iran's nuclear and missile programs. About a third of those are linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, an elite military corps.
“The blessing of the resolution is that it can strengthen our relationship as Muslims,” he said.
He explained that Iran again and again would not stop its fully rights to enrich uranium for peace purposes. He believed that the international community loving peace would absolutely support and uphold Iran’s rights including uranium-enrichment programme.
“We have predicted the resolution since a long time ago. We do believe the US pressure would continue” he said, adding that his country would continue its nuclear ambitions. (rif)
