NU Humanitarian Team to Focus on Health Service

A matter of Health services was one of the very urgent needs following the Monday’s tsunami crashing into beach resorts in Pangandaran, Ciamis, West Java, killing at least 226 people and leaving scores missing.

The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) through its Healthcare Institution of Nahdlatul Ulama (LPK NU) has established a humanitarian post in tsunami-affected locations to help the victims caused by a series of large waves claiming hundreds of lives.

The coordinator of NU Humanitarian post Avianto Muhtadi said that the health services for the victims are part of emergency respond to the disaster. In addition to providing foods and clothes, the health services, Avin added,  were absolutely needed.

He said that NU Humanitarian post Friday (21/7) was established not so far from the tsunami affected areas. “Tomorrow morning (Friday) at 08.00 WIB (West Indonesian Time) we are ready to receive the patients,” Avin said.
 
respecting the health assistance at the first stage, said Avin, his team would prepare three medical specialists and medicine supplies that can be consumed by approximately a thousand people. (rif)
