RI Religion Minister to open sports and arts competition

Minister of Religious Affairs Muhammad Maftuh Basyuni opened the national sports and arts competition (porseni) for Islamic educational institutions (madrasa) in the Jakarta’s National Monument park on Sunday (12/11), saying that the education would be better if aspects of spiritual and knowledge can be synergized through the sports and arts activity.
Present at the occasion Vice Governor of Jakarta Fauzi Bowo, who is also the Chairman of Jakarta’s Regional Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) and representatives of regional office coming from various provinces.
<>The very first event would reportedly involve around 1.500 participants of Islamic Senior High Schools from 30 provinces.The Minister said that the Islamic educational institutions had big potential in developing students. That’s why the education having been implemented at the Islamic institutions should also be balanced.
“The porseni event may be a medium of togetherness for the madrasa’s students coming from various provinces,” the Minister said. (dpg/nam)
