KPU Jombang socializes 2019 elections for santri

The General Election Commission (KPU) Jombang held Wednesday a meeting with the Tambakberas Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School Foundation (YPPBU), Jombang socialize elections and voting rights for santri.

This socialization was carried out by considering the questions from a number of pesantren leaders about the process and procedures for moving polling stations so that the santri could take part in the democratic party. On the other hand there are many santri who have the right to vote but are reluctant to use their rights in their own region.

The Chairperson of YPPBU KH Wafiyul Ahdi said that the constitutional rights of santri must be fixed, so that they must be at the pesantren on April 17, their voting rights can still be channeled properly.

"To follow up on the good intentions of the (pesantren) leaders for the santri rights in the democratic process, the foundation works together with the KPU Jombang to socialize and explain the technical matters and procedures for moving polling stations," he said.

The member of KPU Jombang M Fathoni welcomed this cooperation. The KPU, he said, had to socialize the process and stages of the election for the elements of society, including pesantren communities.

"This is part of the KPU's task in the process of socializing and determining the General Election. In addition, the election is our cooperation, by regulating, working together with the foundation in accordance with the KPU program," he said.

He thanked the foundation for mediating the questions that came from pesantren regarding their santri voting rights.

"Thanks alot for the foundation for having bridged this program. Our hope is that santri will continue to be enthusiastic in using their right to vote, remain outside their original city / regency," he said.
