The Nahdliyin (NU followers) should be wary of new religious groups calling themselves the defenders of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) which has so far become the NU identity. Its teachings have been used by other parties that want to attract sympathy from the Nahdliyin.<>
KH Misrawi made the remarks at a religious gathering in Pesantren Nurur Rahmah Sambirampak Lor village Kotaanyar subdistrict Probolinggo on Thursday (4/7).
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Jember's Branch Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU), NU will strive to always be on the straight path in accordance with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
"The Nahdliyin should keep preserving the Islamic teachings of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah. We should not be carried away in facing new sects and remain consistent in keeping our own house in strengthening Islam Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah as the way of truth," he said.
Present also at the occasion were Habib Assegaf from Bangil Pasuruan and KH. Hefni Mahfudz of Pesantren Nurul Jadid Paiton.
