Kiai Said: Problems deliberation responds to issues and challenges

Bahtsul masail (problems deliberation) became the main agenda at the 2021 NU National Conference of Alim Ulama and (Munas) the Grand Conference (Konbes). Bahtsul masail in this forum is divided into three commissions, namely waqi'iyah (actual), maudhu'iyah (thematic), and qonuniyah (laws).

 

The General ChairMAN of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Said Aqil Siroj (Kiai Said) said that the urgency of bahtsul masail for the community was in order to answer various emerging problems.

 

"The important thing is to respond to some problems emerging in people's lives," Kiai Said said during the plenary session of the Munas -Konbes at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Jakarta, Sunday (26/9/2021). .

 

In addition, the bahtsul masail is also important to respond to various challenges that often attack organizations. If there is something that threatens NU in particular, or Islam, in general, the bahtsul masail becomes a forum for discussion to protect it. Kiai Said gave examples of tahlil and tawasul which are often questioned by certain groups. The Bahtsul masail became a forum to answer the various questions.

 

Kiai Said also added that bahtsul masail was important to discuss certain themes.

Kiai Said said that the urgency of bahtsul masail was to perfect things that are still imperfect due to the latest developments. "We are perfecting the laws of the past," he said.

 

Seeing the development and the dynamics of bahtsul masail at the 2021 Munas-Konbes, Kiai Said said that it was sufficient to meet the standards, although not yet perfect when describing the emerging problems.

 

Furthermore, he said that it often happened that bahtsul masail at the PBNU level decided on a certain theme permissible (halal), while discussions at the branch level declared it haram. "Actually it's okay. The important thing is that everything goes according to the rules," he said.

 

Kiai Said emphasized that bahtsul masail participants both at the PBNU and at the branch management level must meet the requirements for the mastery of the rules of so-called usul fiqh, ijma', qiyas, fiqh rules, fiqh criteria, and maqashidus sharia.

 

"You have to understand them properly. It's not a matter of PBNU, branch and village-level  baords. The important thing is that the mastery (of the rules) is ideal,” he said.

 

On this occasion, Kiai Said also hoped that the results of the bahtsul masail at the 2021 Munas-Konbes could be beneficial for all Muslims, especially Nahdliyin (NU members).

 

"Hopefully this will be useful, especially for NU members, (and) generally for the world's Muslims," ​​the leader of the Al-Tsaqafah Islamic Boarding School, Ciganjur, South Jakarta said.
