NU student wins gold medal at int'l competition

NU young man from North Sumatra Muhammad Ja'far Hasibuan won the gold medal at the seventh Shanghai International Exhibition of Inventions (CSITF) on 18-20 April 2019. He succeeded in medals in the health sector for his findings and innovations in processing shrimp into skin drugs.
His achievements are more perfect because at the event, Ja'far was the only participant who received the Special Award from the World Invention Intellectual Property Association (WIIPA) under the auspices of the United Nations (UN).
CSITF is jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science and Technology, State Intellectual Property Office and Shanghai City Government, supported by UNIDO, UNDP and WIPO, and organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce for Machinery and Electronic Products Import and Export, Shanghai International Technology Exchange Center and Donghao Lansheng (Group) Co., Ltd.
In an international event participated by representatives from various countries, Ja'far revealed his findings called biofar shrimp skin care treating human & animal skin diseases outside and inside. The findings were inspired by small smooth shrimp living to grow under mangrove trees in the Asahan area of North Sumatra.
"Shrimp is useful for treating wounds. Tests on humans have been carried out on those exposed to sharp objects such as nails and zinc. Within two hours the pain will significantly reduce, "he said at the NU headquarters here on Thursday (2/5).
"I want to be useful for many people, khoirunnas anfa'uhum linnas," he said.
Ja'far spent his youth studying for 6 years at the Nurul Falah Islamic Boarding School led by KH Abdullah Harahap, who is also the chairman of advisory board of NU South Tapanuli. At the pesantren, he was active in the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (IPNU).
Then, the man born in 1988 continued his education at the Counseling Guidance Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at the Islamic University of North Sumatra. On the campus he was active in the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII). (Abdullah Alawi / Masdar)
